Timed Tasks

A timed task has a goal measured in time, such as reading for 20 minutes.

Using the Timer

Tap ▶︎ on the task to start the timer, and tap it again to pause. When the timer reaches the goal, the task is marked as complete.

If you did the task without starting the timer, touch and hold ▶︎ and select Record Timing to add the time yourself.

To turn an existing task into a timed task, open its Edit Task screen, select Convert Task, then Change to Timed Task.

When the Timer Finishes

Open the task’s Notifications screen to choose how you’re told the timer has finished. Under Completed, choose an option such as Notification or Alarm. Alarm uses a system alarm, like a timer in the Clock app.

Seeing the Timer

While a timer is running, you can follow it in a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. On Mac, it can appear in the menu bar.
